Salou restaurants will gladly treat tourists to the best dishes of Catalan cuisine. The most popular of them is paella (paella - spiced rice with seafood, meat or vegetables, which is stewed over an open fire). If pasta is used instead of rice, another popular dish is fideua. Tapas are not just appetizers made from a variety of foods, they are a way of life for Spaniards. Tapas can be:
- meat: homemade pork sausages filled with olives, paprika or mushrooms, venison stew, spicy braised pork feet, dried pork shoulder or feet, blood sausage, kebabs;
- vegetables: olives, grilled vegetables familiar to Europeans (sweet pepper, zucchini, eggplant, onions, tomatoes), fried potatoes, stir-fried peppers;
- fish: salted anchovies, marinated small fish, fried fish;
- seafood: fried white shells in sauce, fried squid rings, lobsters, shrimp, boiled octopus;
- from other foods: snails, melon slices, eggs mixed with mashed potatoes and others.
