The climate of the Balearic archipelago is characterized by warm and dry weather in summer and mild and humid weather in winter. Ibiza experiences more frequent rainfall in the colder months of the year, but remains a paradise with a mild Mediterranean climate. Ibiza's coastline is lined with picturesque sandy bays, one of which is San Antonio Abad.
The rainy seasons in San Antonio Abad occur between September and November, as well as the spring months. In general, the weather in San Antonio-Abad is characterized by comfortable average temperatures and an uneven distribution of rainfall. The maximum temperature in San Antonio-Abad reaches +32°C. In summer, the rains in San Antonio-Abad are mostly short-lived but heavy.
In addition, from June to August, the sun illuminates the island for 11 hours a day. The average annual temperature in San Antonio Abad is +16-18°C, while in winter the thermometer does not fall below +8-11°C.
The vegetation and animal life of San Antonio Abad
Red sandstone cliffs, salt marshes, basalt caves, hilly lands and valleys hide birds, lizards, squirrels, hedgehogs, rabbits and other not-so-large animals from tourists. Due to the presence of wildlife, hotel visitors are advised to close windows and balcony doors to avoid encountering cute little geckos.
The only pests to be found in San Antonio Abad are mosquitoes.
The region's fauna is a mixture of trees, wild plants and flowers introduced by the Carthaginians and Romans. In turn, pine, almond and olive groves can be found around San Antonio Abad, while the coastline is lined with different types of palm trees.
Fruit trees include citrus, figs, peaches, apples, pomegranates and plums. In the north-west of the island, the legendary hippy cove of Benirras and the rock-fringed bays of Portitxol and Cala d`en Serra are amongst the wilderness. The only small river in the Balearic Islands, the Santa Eularia, also runs through Ibiza, so drinking water in San Antonio Abad comes only from artesian wells.
