Tenerife is an island with a well-developed transportation network that allows you to reach virtually any destination without a private car. The state-run bus company TITSA covers the entire coastline and mountainous regions; a tram connects the capital with the historic town of La Laguna; and taxis are available everywhere.

Renting a Car
A car is the best option for exploring the island on your own—including Teide National Park, the Anaga Mountains, and the village of Masca. Where to rent: TFS Airport (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, and Europcar counters), Cicar (a local Canarian company with the best reputation), and Record Go.
Driving tips: Drive on the right; the mountain roads to Masca and Anaga are narrow and winding. Gas is ~€1.20–1.40 per liter for 95-octane.
Airport Transfers
From TFS to southern resorts—take bus line 111 (~€4 with a C1 card) or a taxi (~€18–25). From TFN to Puerto de la Cruz—take a bus or a taxi (~€15–20).
Transportation within the southern resorts
The Paseo Marítimo connects Los Cristianos, Las Américas, and Costa Adeje via a pedestrian promenade. It’s a 20-minute walk from Los Cristianos to Las Américas.
Parking
- Southern resorts: Most residential complexes offer free parking. Street parking: ~€0.50–1 per hour
- Santa Cruz: Downtown—paid underground parking (€1–2 per hour)
- Teide: The parking lot at the base station gets crowded on weekends—arrive before 10 a.m.
