Car rental in Lech operates around the clock. Buy a vignette initially, as many of the autobahns around the city are tolled. Vignettes are sold at gas stations near the border and in car stores in Austria itself. Without a vignette you will pay a fine of 120 EUR when you pay on the spot. If you refuse to pay on the spot, the fine can be from 300 to 3000 EUR in court. The minimum age of the driver must be between 21 and 23 years old.
Personal insurance up to 10 EUR per day is possible (to be arranged and paid locally). In some cases there is a surcharge of 5 EUR per day for drivers aged 19 to 21. Child seat must be booked in advance, cost 40 EUR per rental period, payable locally.
Winter tires are available on request at no extra charge. Car rental in Lech requires an international driver's license, a credit card with the required amount of deposit on the account. It is blocked at once, when ordering transportation. Car rental without collateral is not practiced in Austria, it is difficult to find such an opportunity. The service may be refused to persons under 23 years of age, and those who received their license less than a year ago.
