It's not at all difficult to understand where Lech is. Just half an hour away by car is St. Anton am Arlberg, the famous resort of Tyrol, located on the railway line from Innsbruck to Bludenz. Which means there shouldn't be any problems getting there, you can easily get to the resort.
A little higher up is the famous village of Oberlech, which is considered one of the most secluded and luxurious resort spots in the Alps. Although together with St Anton they form a single skiing region, the towns are in different federal states.
Lech is based at the junction of two states, Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The Arlberg ridge stands here, the highest point of which is the Walluga mountain (2809 m). The ski season starts at the end of November and lasts until the end of April. Together with the ski resorts of Oberlech, Stubenbach, Zurs and Zug, Lech is part of the world-famous Arlberg region.
The history of Lech is closely linked to that of Arlberg. It is the cradle of skiing in the Alps. In the 1890s, the first Nordic Planks were brought here from Scandinavia. Hans Schneider later developed modern downhill skiing techniques. Not far away, in Zurs, the first alpine skiing school was organized at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1937, one of the first Austrian ski elevators was built here.
Lech is located on a mountain plateau at the source of the river of the same name. In 2004, Lech was named "Europe's most beautiful village" in the Entente Florale European competition. It is the oldest and snowiest resort in the Alps. Stars and millionaires vacation here. If you want a more economical vacation, go to St. Anton, it is nearby and somewhat cheaper. The currency of Austria, as a member state of the European Union, is the euro. You can pay at many points with international e-cards.
