Sölden's main attractions

Hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to Sölden every year. And it's not just the top-class ski slopes that attract them. This charming corner of Tyrol attracts visitors with its unique flavor and careful treatment of its sights. Of course, the map of sights of Selden is difficult to compare with the monuments of Paris. But each monument bears the imprint of history and national character.

The unique nature of the Ötztal valley is already an attraction in itself. So when making your plan to visit Sölden's attractions, consider the photos in the tourist communities. They will help you make the right choice.

First of all, you should pay attention to natural monuments and unique buildings. It is impossible to describe the sights of Sölden without mentioning the high mountain road Passo del Rombo. This is the highest road in the Eastern Alps, laid at an altitude of 2509 meters. The road connects the Otztal valley with the valleys in the Italian province of Bolzano. It is open from June to October.

Numerous tourist schemes of Sölden with sights do not avoid architectural monuments, such as the Auguste Picard Monument (erected in 1989 in memory of the landing of Picard's stratostat on the Gurgl glacier in 1931), the church of St. John Nepomuk in the village of Obergurgl (it is recognized as the highest altitude parish church in Europe), the water mill (it is more than 150 years old and now houses a museum).

Amazingly beautiful scenery can be found in the protected high-mountain relic forest of Zirbenwald. Centuries-old trees have grown at an altitude of about 2000 meters on an area of about 20 hectares.

Another attraction in Sölden is a memorial marker honoring the discovery of a perfectly preserved mummy of an ancient man found in the Similaun Glacier. The memorial sign, named Otzi, was erected in 1991.
