Sölden has held the reputation of one of Austria's best winter resorts for decades. The snow cover on the upper slopes reaches 3.5 meters in the high season. Moreover, the resort guarantees natural snow during the whole season from November to May. Glacier skiing is possible all year round. The skiing area has a height from 1377 to 3250 meters, and the altitude difference reaches 1873 meters. The total length of the ski slopes of the resort reaches 150 km, of which only 40 km of slopes are subjected to periodic artificial snowing.

Selden offers vacationers skiing in four main areas: Gaislachkogl (1377-3058 m), Giggijoch (1377-2885 m), on the glaciers Rettenbach (1377-3250 m) and Tiefenbach (2796-3250 m). A unique feature of Sölden is the presence of three tricentennial peaks.

The ski slopes in Sölden are labeled according to the international system into blue, red and black slopes. The blue runs are 53 kilometers long, the red runs are 63 kilometers long and the black runs are 28 kilometers long. The longest piste reaches 13.5 km. The resort also has a mogul run, a toboggan run, a cross-country ski run and two snowboard parks.

It should be noted that all the skiing areas in the resort are interconnected, which provides additional convenience for tourists.

The main skiing area in Sölden is the Giggijoch. This area has the most comfortable conditions for "red" skiing. There are areas for beginners, a good fun - park for snowboarding (chute 70 by 12 meters with a slope of 15 °, chute - quarter, special jumps and so on). There are also serious black runs for professionals in this zone. The center of the zone is reserved for beginners.

The big piste in Sölden

The Gaislachkogl ski area is only for well-trained skiers. The height of the peak of the same name is 3058 meters. From here you have a magnificent view of Sölden and all the ski slopes of the resort. Skiing in this area, you get a unique opportunity to observe the change from alpine meadows to coniferous forests.

The Rettenbach Glacier is nestled in a wind-protected basin. There are short but very interesting red and blue descents. It takes 40-50 minutes to get to the glacier via the elevator system or by car on a toll road. The ski tunnel can be used to get to the Tiefenbach glacier directly in your equipment.

The Tiefenbach glacier is dominated by long blue runs. Excellent conditions for beginners and snowboarders. There is also a fan park in this ski area.

Selden is recognized as one of the best resorts for snowboarders. It offers a half-pipe and a fun-park on Rettenbach, as well as fun-parks in Obergurgl and Otz. Sölden's most famous fan park is located in Giggijoch. Every year Sölden hosts the BoarderX-opening snowboard tournament.
