Since 2012, the administrative map of Baku has 12 districts (Binagadi, Qaradaghi, Narimanov, Nasimi, Nizami, Pirallahi, Sabail, Sabunchu, Surakhani, Khazar, Khatai, Yasamal).
The central part, aka the Heart of Baku, or the Inner City. Here you will find the ancient fortress of Icheri-sheher, or Baku Acropolis, with more than 50 minarets, ancient monuments and palaces.
The city built in the Soviet period - on the map of Baku this part occupies the smallest area.Modern Baku, the main attraction of which are the Flame Towers - skyscrapers in the form of flames. They are also considered to be the center of the map of Baku with hotels - it is here that the most fashionable hotel Fairmont Baku is located. But seismically dangerous zones are located in the north and north-west of the city, in the direction of Binagadi settlement, as well as in the coastal areas.
