The old town of Chania and the Venetian Harbor are considered among the most beautiful places in Crete and in the whole of Greece. Many of the preserved Venetian houses have hotels with affordable prices, so that any traveler can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of "Greek Venice".
Those who are in the mood for swimming and sunbathing will find many kilometers of beaches in the area, the most famous of which is near Elafonissi (here you will find a unique pink sand, which is not found anywhere else in Crete). On any beach you will be offered deck chairs and umbrellas for rent, as well as all kinds of entertainment: catamaran and water skiing, paragliding, scuba diving. Almost everywhere there are children's playgrounds with various attractions.
If you decide to get to know Chania more closely, start with the Old Town, surrounded by dilapidated Venetian walls. Here you can explore the ruins of Byzantine buildings, mosques and apartment blocks built more than half a century ago (many of them now house bars and hotels).
Not far away is the picturesque Samaria Gorge, home to several species of rare animals. There is a hiking trail leading to the village of Ayia Roumeli.
