In the northwestern part of the island are the most beautiful beaches not only of Crete, but of the whole of Greece. Chania is a realm of golden sand (mostly) and clear warm sea (a couple of degrees warmer than in the south of the island). The descent to the water here is gentle. Many beaches regularly receive the EU blue flag for cleanliness and environmental friendliness. It is safe to relax on them - lifeguards are on duty from morning till evening.
Which is the best beach in Chania? Definitely Νέα Χώρα (New Country). It is the most landscaped. There are more restaurants, hotels near it. Entrance to the beaches is free, but if you want to use a sun lounger, prepare about 3 EUR.
