Rhodes is one of the most visited and diverse islands in Greece. Those who prefer active and noisy rest, spend their vacations in Faliraki (there is a huge water park and many nightclubs), Ialyssos or Ixia.
The capital of the island - the city of Rhodes is chosen by travelers who prefer to immerse themselves in the history of new places. Here you will find a medieval fortress about 4 km long (it is the longest in Europe), the Old Town, protected by UNESCO, and the Mandraki harbor, where the Colossus of Rhodes - one of the 7 wonders of the world - was once located.
Ancientists will love Lindos, where the ancient acropolis, considered the second most important in Greece after Athens, has been preserved.
Those who are in the mood for a beach vacation, it will be useful to know that in the western part of the island (in Ixia and Ialissos) tourists are waiting for pebble beaches and the often exciting Aegean Sea, and in the east (resorts Kalifea, Faliraki, Kolimbia, Lindos) - sand and calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The only official nudist beach of Rhodes is located in the south of Faliraki. Entrance to the beaches is mostly free, but you will have to pay about 6-8 EUR per day for a couple of sun beds and an umbrella.
