Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, the city enjoys a huge number of sunny days - around 300 a year. Rhodes is hardly capricious: even if the 14-day forecast promises rainy weather, it's likely to be short-lived and after a few hours of waiting, you can continue sunbathing.
The weather in Rhodes is characterized by mild, wet winters and moderately hot summers, so in 3, 5 days or a week you can get a nice tan and enjoy the island.
Average annual air temperatures in Rhodes range from +23 to +28°C, while water temperatures in the Aegean Sea range from +19 to +23°C.
When is the best time to go to Rhodes?
If you are interested in water sports and a luxurious tan, you should go in the "high season" - from June to September (for windsurfing is preferable to July). At this time the thermometer rarely drops below +25°C.
In winter and early spring, those more interested in ancient history come to the island. February to April is the ideal time of year for leisurely strolls through the ancient streets of Rhodes. Although, if you are not embarrassed by the prospect of walking in the rain, you can plan a trip in January. But you can forget about swimming in the sea, as water temperatures are unlikely to be above +13°C.
When is it cheaper to go to Rhodes?
The most "budget" time to visit Rhodes is from November to March. Although most tourists prefer to come here in spring - in winter the weather on the island is quite wet, so you can forget about "beach" vacation. If you want to combine the excursion program with swimming in the sea, it is better to come to Rhodes at the end of May - prices are still moderate, and the weather is more than pleasant. From June onwards, prices tend to increase by an order of magnitude.
