The city with three thousand years of history is a "tidbit" for tourists from all over the world. From the first moment you're on the island, you feel like an ancient hero, if not an Olympian god. Whether it's the exquisite architecture of the ancient city or the divinely beautiful scenery, but the island even breathes somehow special - so that you want to immediately perform a couple of feats. For the first time, this desire appears when you start to study the map of Rhodes with sights and their photos. But when you approach them at arm's length, the heroic impulse increases a hundredfold. Perhaps after reading a brief description of some of the sights of Rhodes, you will at least decide to make a trip to this unrealistically beautiful city.
The Acropolis, a complex of millennia-old temples, is the hallmark of Rhodes, which, alas, is now in ruins. This amazing place has a special spirit of heroic battles. On the scheme of attractions in this part of Rhodes, you can also see the ancient theater, the temple of Apollo, and the Pythian Stadium, which, incidentally, is still used for theatrical performances.
The next stop is the Old Town. The most interesting, in our opinion, are the 16th-century Suleiman Mosque, a symbol of the Turkish victory over the Knights Hospitallers, as well as the ancient Turkish market and the Palace of the Grand Master. For five centuries, the palace was considered one of the main strongholds of Rhodes, but in the XIX century, a large part of it was destroyed during a strong earthquake. Fortunately, the palace was rebuilt, and today its luxurious halls with collections of ancient weapons welcome tourists from all over the world.
The Rodos Archaeological Museum is another medieval monument of Rhodes. Here you can view ancient Greek artifacts, pottery, ancient sculptures, and art from almost every Greek island.
Fans of modern art should visit the Modern Greek Art Museum, which features a collection of paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures by local artists.
