Where to eat in Rhodes: iconic restaurants, prices

Alexis (Old Town, Odos Sokratous, 18), Ippotikon (Old Town, Platia Martiron Evrion), and Kasbah (Old Town, Odos Platonos, 4-8) are among Rhodes' iconic restaurants. Tables here must be booked in advance.

Mike's Taverna (Old Town, Odos Menekleous, 26), Nisiros (Odos Agiou Fanouriou, 45-47), Tavros (Platia Alexandrias, near the Nea Agora market complex) have the most positive reviews.

Fans of Italian cuisine will love the family-run restaurants (e.g. Capricci), which serve amazing focaccia cheese flatbreads, dozens of different pastas, pizzas and salads. If a hearty and inexpensive snack is on the agenda, check out one of the fast food chain Goody's (the local equivalent of McDonald's) or a pizzeria (a specialty pizza costs about 7 EUR).

Prices in inexpensive restaurants and cafes of Rhodes specializing in fish dishes are quite democratic. A dinner for two with wine will cost from 30 to 60 EUR.

And, of course, the Rhodes experience is incomplete if you don't try authentic Greek wines and ouzo vodka. The most popular on the island are Athiri white table wine, Mandiari and Amorgiano red wine, dessert sweet wine, a blend of white Muscat from Samos and Italian Trani grape, which has a pleasant silky flavor with notes of caramel, nuts and dried apricots.
