Even if you're in Genoa for just one day, this itinerary is suitable for you. It's designed for 6-7 hours and includes all the main tourist locations. The starting point is the main city station, Stazione Principe.
Exiting the station building, you will find yourself in Piazza Acquaverde. Look around and you will see the monument to Columbus and the Cathedral of Giovanni Evangelista de Pre. Continue walking along via Balbi, reach the first intersection, turn right, and exit onto the waterfront. By the sea, you'll find the Maritime Museum, Galata Museo del Mare. Nearby, you can see a submarine at the dock, and in the distance, the ancient tower of Porta dei Vacca.
The next stop on the itinerary around Genoa is a real pirate galleon. After 200 metres is the city's Aquarium, then the Old Port, Porto Antico. Don't forget to take a few pictures against the Ligurian sea.
When you cross Piazza Caricamento, you will see the most beautiful Genoese palaces De Marini and Emanuele FilibertoDi Negro. Walk between them and you will find yourself on Piazza Banchi, turn onto via Canneto il Curto, count the third intersection, turn left - and here you are in the Old Town!
The first point of the tourist route in ancient Genoa is Palazzo Ducale, the most beautiful Palace of the Duke. Go straight - and exit first to the ancient gates of Porta Soprana, and then - to Piazza Dante to examine in detail the house where Christopher Columbus lived from the age of 4. Turn right from it, and in three minutes you will find yourself on the main square of Genoa, Piazza De Ferrari.
