There is no airport near Padua, so tourists wishing to visit the city use Venice's air gateway. In principle, you can reach the city via any airport in Italy, but the Marco Polo airport is the closest to Padua. It takes its name from the famous Venetian traveller. He is believed to be the first European to reach China.
The layout of Padua Airport includes two asphalt runways and a three-storey passenger terminal. Arriving passengers for departures and arrivals go to the first floor, while check-in is carried out on the second floor at one of six counters. The third floor is used for administrative purposes. The passenger terminals cover an area of about 53,000 sq. m. You can find more details about these air gates of Italy on the Venice Airport website.
