How to get to Singapore from Singapore airport

Changi Airport is Singapore's main airport, located 17.2 kilometers southeast of the city center, serving more than 46 million people annually.

How to Get to the City Center

It takes an average of 40 minutes to reach the central part of Singapore from the airport.

Public Transportation

There are several modes of transportation to downtown Singapore from the airport.

Metro

Terminals T2 and T3 provide access to the subway. Follow the signs for "MRT" or "Train to city." To reach the heart of Singapore, alight at Tanah Merah station, which is two stops away from the airport terminal. Then proceed to Platform B and board a train marked "to city."

Where to Buy a Ticket:

- To use the subway, you must purchase an Ez-link card, which is reusable and available only at ticket offices.
- Alternatively, you can buy a single-use ticket from a machine. Note that the machine only accepts bills (denominations not exceeding SGD 10).

Important! If your plane lands at Terminal T1, you can take the skytrain to the other two terminals. Follow the signs to the skytrain, which operates from 05:00 to 02:30. If you miss this window, you can take the bus.

Bus #36

The bus travels from any airport terminal. Look for the "Bus to city" signs.

Travel Time: 1 hour
Travel Schedule: 06:00 to 00:00 (once every 8-12 minutes)

Tip! A reusable Ez-link card will cost you less. And make sure you have some small money if you're going to pay in cash, as the driver doesn't give change.

Shuttle Bus

The big plus of the shuttle is that it takes you directly to the hotel grounds. A list of hotels the bus goes to is here.

Traffic Schedule: All day and night, every 15-30 minutes
Trip Length: Depends on the location of your hotel
Cost: SGD 9 for an adult and SGD 6 for a child. Pay to the driver

Tip! The shuttle is convenient if you are traveling as a couple. A large group is better off taking a shuttle or cab.

Transfer

Cost: from SGD 56 per car
Trip Time: 30 minutes

Taxi

If you're traveling in a large group, it's best to book a cab. You can pick up a car at the airport or order a flat-fee vehicle at the Ground Transportation Desks.

Cost: Airport cab service (the price is fixed regardless of the class of car) will cost 55 SGD. If you take a regular cab, it will be 20-30 SGD.
Trip Time: 30 minutes

Note: Taxi prices are 50% higher at night (from 00:00 to 06:00), during rush hour from 06:00 to 09:30 on weekdays, and from 18:00 to 00:00 on weekends the price is 25% higher.

Car Rental

In Singapore, travelers have a wide range of car rental companies to choose from. You can book a car at Terminals 1 and 2 provided you have a passport, international license, and more than a year of driving experience.
