Beaches in Benidorm

Benidorm beach review: we'll tell you which one is best.

The beaches of Benidorm are permanent holders of the Blue Flags, a special distinction awarded by the European Union for the excellent quality of the water and sand surface.

Which is the best beach in Benidorm?

Benidorm beach view

1. Playa de Levante

The most popular, "densely populated" and attractive beach of the Spanish Mediterranean. The white sandy strip is located in the heart of the high-rise urban development. Along the two kilometers of beach there are numerous restaurants, water slides, parasailing centers and catamaran rentals.

Note! The bottom of Levante is characterized by a special structure of slab layering near the shore, which can be clearly felt when the sand is eroded. Vacationers in the eastern part of Levante are advised to enter the sea with rubber slippers.

2. Playa de Poniente

The ideal place for a family vacation with children in Benidorm. On the golden sandy strip of more than three kilometers long with palm plantations there is a rental of sun beds and umbrellas, equipped with convenient slopes-lifts for people with disabilities. The zone is decorated with a spacious bicycle path and a boulevard lined with colored ceramic tiles. In the evening, tourists come here for the colorful scenery and incredible romantic atmosphere.

3. Playa de Mal Pas

The centerpiece of the city's beach life. The recreation area has a length of only about 120 meters at the foot of the fortress of Benidorm, but is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable rest in the bay: rental catamarans and deck chairs, lifeguard tower. There are numerous cafes and restaurants nearby.

The main entertainment of Playa de Mal Pas is amateur volleyball matches and music programs.

4. La Cala de Finestrat

Another blue-flag beach that defines Benidorm's beach infrastructure. In a small cove only 300 meters long there are lifeguard towers, water entertainment centers, cafes and playgrounds for children. The sea swell in this part of the coast is always lower thanks to the rock protection.

5. Cala del Tio Ximo

Semi-deserted "Uncle Chimo's Cove", where the sandy shore meets the rocky spurs. With its secluded location in a bay of just 6 square meters, it's especially popular with nudists and snorkelers, as this part of the coastline is full of brightly colored, fidgety fish.

6. Cala la Almadraba

A cozy beach adjacent to the slope of the Sierra Elada Natural Park and Cala del Tio Ximo. Difficult to access from the shore and populated mainly by thrill-seekers during the holiday season. Here you can jump off the coastal cliffs and go scuba diving.
