This magnificent city is nestled on the shores of Santa Monica Bay, washed by the azure waters of the Pacific Ocean. A world-famous symbol of the state of California, the City of Angels is also the largest metropolis on the West Coast of the United States, with a population of nearly 4 million people and a population of more than 17 million in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The lowlands of Los Angeles and its satellite cities are surrounded on all sides by mountains, which creates a unique environment for outdoor activities: you can spend half a day at the beach and then go skiing in the mountains!
Before the end of the 18th century, the territory of modern Los Angeles was home to several dozen Indian settlements, near which a Christian mission was founded. A settlement of Spanish colonists sprang up in the neighborhood, which later became the city of Los Angeles.
It is therefore believed that the City of Angels was founded in 1781. However, at the time, the city was part of Mexico and did not become American until 1848, after the signing of a peace treaty between the U.S. and Mexico.
The construction of the railroad, the rapid development of citrus plantations and the discovery of large oil deposits in the region determined the fate of the city, which began to rapidly transform into the cultural and economic center of the state.
