It's worth remembering the famous Negro and Latino gangs of Los Angeles to keep your eyes open when traveling around the city. Try to travel within respectable, safe neighborhoods (including Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and other beach areas) and stay out of Negro and immigrant neighborhoods.

Thieves are common in crowded tourist areas, and drug and drag dealers may be found near clubs in the evening. Exercise reasonable caution when dealing with strangers and keep an eye on valuables.
