Although reviews of vacations in Los Angeles do not suggest that prices are particularly budget-friendly, this does not mean there are no opportunities to save money. You can plan your trip in a way that allows you to spend as little as possible while still getting the most enjoyment out of your stay.
Accommodation
A vacation for two in Los Angeles can cost no more than 100–120 USD per night if you stay in a modest motel or hostel. If you prefer more comfortable accommodation, expect to pay 200–300 USD per night and choose a 2- or 3-star hotel located near most of the attractions you plan to visit (this will help you save on transportation).
Transport
Transportation costs can make your trip more expensive if you're going to rent a rental car (at least 30-35 USD per day). However, it can be more convenient and even cost-effective than paying several hundred dollars for excursions that involve traveling between different parts of the city.
But if you don't plan to be out of the neighborhood you're staying in often, go ahead and buy a single ticket for the subway and buses ($1.75 USD for a single ride).
Food
The overall cost of a stay in Los Angeles largely depends on your dining choices. In the city’s numerous diners, you can enjoy dishes from various cuisines around the world for as little as 10–20 USD per person. Lunches and dinners in standard restaurants cost around 100 USD, while dining at trendy upscale venues will be at least twice as expensive.
