Any journey begins with studying a map — Miami is no exception. As mentioned, it's not only the main hangout spot on the entire southeast coast, but it's also a huge business center. So conventionally, the map of Miami with hotels and attractions can be divided into two parts:
Financial Central Neighborhoods (Downtown Miami, Brickell). It is dominated by high-rise development, prestigious hotels, and the majority of the local population is made up of managers at all levels and bankers. The only downside is that after dark, Miami's commercial center becomes virtually deserted, and you're unlikely to feel the local tropical flavor.
Coastaldistricts (Key Biscayne, Fisher Island, Miami Beach, South Beach). If you open a map of Miami, you will immediately see that this is where the best hotels, restaurants, clubs and, of course, the beaches of the city are concentrated!
Every tourist is concerned with the question, in which area of Miami to stay. The answer is: practically in any neighborhood! This city is considered one of the safest in the south of the country. We tried to divide all the neighborhoods into several groups:
Downtown Miami neighborhoods
Downtown is where all of Miami's banking institutions and commercial skyscrapers are centered.
Coastal Neighborhoods
This is the most numerous list of Miami's best neighborhoods for tourists: Miami Beach (separated from the city by Biscayne Bay), South Beach, Sunny Isles (ideal for vacations with children).
Dangerous Neighborhoods in Miami
Oddly enough, Downtown is one of the most undesirable areas for tourists — after dark, it's often the scene of shootings, robberies, drug dealing and other vicious behavior. So you're advised to visit the city's business center only during daylight hours.
