Nessebar is a museum city that is entirely under the protection of UNESCO. Visitors come here not only to enjoy the sandy beaches but also to immerse themselves in history. The city encompasses the heritage of Thracians, ancient Romans, and Greeks.
Nessebar's beaches are awarded the "Blue Flag," which confirms their cleanliness. Thanks to its wide coastal strip covered with golden sand, the beaches are considered the best in Bulgaria.
Old Town Nessebar - Best Photo Locations
We head to the old town via a narrow bridge that connects the peninsula with the new city. This part of Nessebar welcomes guests with ancient cobblestone streets and wooden buildings.
Windmill
The windmill at the entrance of the old town is a true symbol of the "Pearl of Bulgaria." In ancient times, there were several similar structures in Nessebar. However, only two windmills have survived, and one of them provides a perfect backdrop for a good shot. Particularly successful photos that capture the antiquity of the city can be taken with the ancient buildings in the distance.
Church of Christ Pantocrator
This ancient church was built in the 14th century during the reign of Ivan Alexander. It is designed in the Byzantine style, and its facade is adorned with a series of arches. The interior decoration is poorly preserved, but you can still see ancient frescoes and paintings on the walls. The church looks especially striking in photos on a clear day.
Western Fortress Wall of Nessebar
This section of the fortress wall is part of the fortification of the old town. Part of it is submerged underwater, and only 100 meters are accessible for observation. The wall itself was constructed using a special technique called "opus mixtum," which gives it an interesting structure.
Church of St. Sophia
It is believed that the church is located in the very center of the ancient city. Its construction dates back to the 6th century, and the holy relics that once belonged to the church were stolen by the Venetians during their attack on the city. Only ruins remain of the once grand structure. However, they rightfully hold the title of the most picturesque ruins in Nessebar.
Beaches of Nessebar
Going on a beach holiday, each of us plans to bring a lot of photos of sandy beaches and the azure sea. For the sake of beautiful shots, we are ready to meet the dawn, see off the sunset and wait for the beaches to be empty. The beaches of Nessebar are recognized as the most beautiful in Bulgaria, so photo shoots will be the most successful.
South Beach
This is perhaps the most popular beach in Nessebar. The coastline stretches for 2 km. The beach is located not in the bay, but on the sea, so there are often quite high waves here. On the one hand, it offers beautiful views of the old city, and on the other hand - sand dunes, which makes this place very picturesque.
North Beach
North Beach is located near the river station in Nessebar. The beach has a mix of sand and rocky areas, and the sea is clean and transparent. The beach has well-developed infrastructure, and thanks to its location in a bay, the water remains warm. From here, you can enjoy beautiful views of the panorama of Sunny Beach.
The picturesque Nessebar attracts vacationers with its comfortable climate, delicious food, and relatively affordable prices. The combination of medieval architecture, picturesque beaches, and the azure sea makes the resort attractive for photo tourism.
