Deauville Attractions

Places to visit if you are a first time visitor to Deauville.

If you have planned a serious sightseeing program, do not forget to buy at the airport or tourist store a map of Deauville with the names of sights and their description. You will definitely find it in the guidebook:

- Promenade Les planches, which we have already mentioned more than once in our review. It is impossible to visit the resort and not make a photo against the background of this sight of Deauville. Usually, the "avenue of stars" with name booths is deserted. But during the American Film Festival you have a chance to see Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks or Michael Douglas in their private dressing room.

- La Touques.and Clairefontaine racecourses, where horse races have been held since 1864. Put a couple of euros on your favorite horse and participate in the general fun. You might just be the lucky one! In addition to horse racing, Deauville's racecourses host international equestrian competitions and horse auctions. Here you can also take a ride on horseback or in a harness. The price of entrance ticket is 5 EUR.

Promenade Le Planche

- Boulevard Eugène Cornuche, where there are villas built in the late XIX - early XX centuries (villa Tenre, villa Suzanne, villa Les Abeilles, villa Samelia). Villa Le Cercle, built by order of representatives of the French aristocracy in 1873, deserves special attention. The villa is an almost exact copy of the Parisian Hotel Salma, whose architect was Pierre Rousseau himself.

The Palais des Congrès, which covers an area of more than 18,000 meters2. The building is 20 meters high, but 14 of them are underground. This architectural trick allowed the view of the seashore to be preserved. It is in the Palais des Congrès that the American Film Festival is held. On the Deauville sightseeing map, you will find this building close to the city beach.
