Deauville Attractions

Places to visit if you are a first time visitor to Deauville.

If you have planned a full sightseeing program, don’t forget to buy a map of Deauville with attractions and descriptions, available at the airport or in tourist shops. In the guidebook you will certainly find:

– The Les Planches Promenade, which we have already mentioned several times in our review. It is impossible to visit the resort without taking a photo against this Deauville landmark. Usually the “Walk of Stars” with its personalized cabins is deserted. But during the American Film Festival, you may come across the cabin of Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, or Michael Douglas.

– The La Touques and Clairefontaine Racecourses, where horse races have been held since 1864. Place a few euros on your favorite horse and join in the excitement. Luck might just be on your side! In addition to races, Deauville’s racecourses host international equestrian competitions and horse auctions. You can also enjoy horseback riding or carriage rides here. Entrance ticket — 10 EUR.

Promenade Le Planche

– Boulevard Eugène Cornuché, lined with villas dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries (villa Tenre, villa Suzanne, villa Les Abeilles, villa Camelia). Of special note is villa Le Cercle, built in 1873 at the request of the French aristocracy. The villa is almost an exact replica of the Parisian Hôtel Salma, designed by Pierre Rousseau himself.

– The Congress Palace, covering more than 18,000 m2. The building rises 20 meters high, though 14 of those are underground. This architectural trick preserved the view of the seashore. The American Film Festival takes place here. On the map of Deauville’s attractions, you’ll find this building near the town beach.
