Neighborhoods in Jerusalem
Since 1948, Jerusalem has been divided into two parts: east and west. However, in 1980, Israel united West and East Jerusalem into one administrative unit. Today, the map of the city of Jerusalem includes several distinct neighborhoods:
- Old City: This area includes iconic landmarks such as the Temple Mount, Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and al-Aqsa Mosque.
- West Jerusalem and Mount Scopus: The western part of the city, including the Mount Scopus area.
- East Jerusalem and Jewish neighborhoods: The eastern part of the city with predominantly Jewish communities.
- West Bank, Jewish neighborhoods: Jewish settlements located in the West Bank.
- East Jerusalem, Arab neighborhoods: Arab communities within the eastern part of Jerusalem.
- West Bank, Arab neighborhoods: Arab settlements in the West Bank.
