How to get to Positano

If you are going to travel to Positano on your own, investigate all possible routes from the nearest airport to the town's tourist centre.

Considering the resort's distance from busy highways and airports, getting to Positano can be challenging. For example, if you're coming from Naples, you'll need to make a transfer.

There are several route options to reach the long-awaited resort.

1. By bus: Airport - Sorrento - Positano. The cost of such a trip for two people will be 26 EUR.

First, take a direct bus from the airport to Sorrento (final stop: Sorrento train station). The ticket should be purchased on the bus for 10 EUR, and the schedule can be found here. The travel time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

At the final stop, at the station bar, you need to buy a ticket to Positano (3 EUR) for the "SITA" bus that goes to Amalfi. Enter the bus and validate the ticket. During the journey (about half an hour), you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Amalfi Coast.

The stop in Positano is near the Internazionale bar.

2. You can reach Sorrento from Naples airport by train, and then go to Positano. This option will cost around 20 EUR for two people, but it will take more time.

At the airport, take the ALIBUS city bus, which stops in front (slightly ahead) of the departure hall. The bus runs every half hour and goes to the Naples train station - Piazza Garibaldi. The final stop is the Naples seaport - Piazza Municipio. Tickets for 3 EUR are purchased directly on the bus and are valid for 90 minutes. The journey to the train station takes about 20-25 minutes.

At the train station, look for signs for the Circumvesuviana suburban train. The station is located below the train station building, opposite track No. 13, and you should go to the left. There are Circumvesuviana ticket booths after the subway entrance. Purchase a ticket (3.80 EUR) and find the train schedule in front of the turnstiles. Trains to Sorrento run every 30 minutes. The journey takes 1 hour and 10 minutes, but time will fly by as you pass by Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, and the Gulf of Naples, from where the island of Capri is clearly visible.

In Sorrento, transfer to the bus (see option 1).

3. Those who prefer comfort can use taxi services, which cost 150 EUR.
