Rapallo has a temperate Mediterranean climate. Thanks to its relatively warm and calm mild winters, Rapallo has served as the winter residence of many wealthy Italians and European aristocrats. The summer months do not see a rainy season in Rapallo with occasional showers or rain showers. Some of the holiday villas have been built on the hills just outside the town in order to protect them from the northerly winds.

The vegetation in Rapallo, as well as its rocky surroundings, is characterized by Mediterranean shrubs, beech, and coniferous forests. It is worth noting that the Alpine regions are home to about 13,000 species of plants. Coniferous trees can be found at altitudes exceeding 2,000 meters. In addition, the wildlife in Rapallo is rich in a variety of bird species and mammals. There are over 30,000 representatives of fauna in the mountains. Among them, in addition to the voracious seagulls, you can encounter jays, titmice, owls, eagles, and warblers. Groundhogs, hares, salamanders, deer, and in the mountainous areas, noble deer and Alpine ibexes thrive here as well.

The flora and fauna of Rapallo are protected at a national level. In order to prevent ecosystem changes and the extinction of Rapallo's wildlife species, the Nature 2000 network has been established. Similarly, areas of historical or architectural importance are preserved. For example, there are Regional Nature Parks in the Liguria Region, including 27 terrestrial nature parks and nine marine parks in the Province of Genoa.

The Mediterranean Sea, for its part, is characterized by a small number of phytoplankton, which allows the presence of 550 species of fish (mackerel, herring, anchovy, mullet, tuna, mackerel), as well as rays, white-bellied seal, oysters, sea turtles, mussels and crayfish. Of invertebrates, crabs, squid, octopus, sepia, lobster and jellyfish are common in the sea.
