Rimini's beaches stretch along the coast for 15km from north to south. It is worth noting that the city's northern beaches have protective structures that block the waves of the Adriatic Sea and protect the coastline from erosion, making for a calmer sea.
Beaches south of the city centre are not wave-protected and the constant rising and falling tides often bring algae to the shore, so the shallow waters may seem muddy. You'll also need to walk several dozen metres to snorkel, but the waters near the beach are great for kids.
However, Rimini's fans pay little attention to the tidal conditions and find the beaches very clean and comfortable. Indeed, the beaches are regularly cleaned and are well equipped not only with sunbeds, awnings, parasols, toilets and showers, but also with various areas for adults and children to play, as well as bars and refreshment stands. For lovers of outdoor activities, you can rent balls, racquets and other equipment.
In addition, each beach has its own lifeguard station and there are often life-saving dogs. In this respect it is even difficult to decide which beach in Rimini is the best because the services offered by all the city's beaches are roughly the same. There are often activities on the beaches such as tournaments, races, swim-ins and so on. And in the evenings there are beach parties. In fact, the beaches in Rimini are part of the city where life is vibrant!
However, this comfort comes at a price: although access to the city’s beaches is free, sunbathing on your own towel is only allowed within the first 5 meters from the shoreline, and those spots are often occupied. To stay in any other part of the beach, you’ll need to pay at least for a sunbed rental (around 8 EUR), but you’ll be able to use other facilities for free.
Which beaches in Rimini are completely free? These are the municipal beaches that are not rented out to businesses, such as at Beach 1 (near the port) or the stretch of beach between beaches 106-107 in the Rivazzurra area. On the other hand, you can save a lot on beach services if you get a discount from the hotel where you're staying.
