Rimini sights

Must-see places if you are visiting Rimini for the first time.

The beauty of Rimini is that you can combine a holiday with an informative excursion. The photos of Rimini's sights will give you a sense of the special charm of the old Italian towns, which retain traces of Rome's grandeur and the mysterious atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

Of course, it is better to explore this city with a guide, who will colorfully describe the sights of Rimini, but you can do without our selection of the most interesting tourist locations.

The Rimini sightseeing map takes visitors to Piazza Cavour, which is the traditional starting point for sightseeing in the historic centre of Rimini.

  Piazza Cavour, Rimini

There are several interesting buildings from the 13th to 16th centuries: the Garampi Palace, Palazzo del Arengho (which still has its 14th-century frescoes), Palazzo del Podesta (which looks a lot like a medieval castle) and the theatre (its façade is particularly beautiful in the evening light).

The marble fountain Pigna and a monument to Pope Paolo V also grace the square. The square itself is not particularly large, but it's picturesque and there's a fish market nearby, where you can buy fresh seafood.

Tre Martiri square in Rimini

Next, the Rimini sightseeing map takes you to Piazza Tre Martiri. Here you will find the ancient clock tower, the austere and stately St Anthony's Chapel, the restrained and graceful Palazzo Brioli, and other beautiful buildings (with shops and restaurants on the lower floors). The ornate square is a wonderful place for a photo session and romantic getaway.

The two places of interest in Rimini with similar names are the mausoleum temple of Tempio Malatesta and the Malatesta Fortress, the seat of the Rimini lords. Both were built in the mid-15th century on the orders of the ruler of Rimini, Sigismondo Malatesta.

Tiberius Bridge in Rimini

It is worth taking a look inside each of the buildings: the first has beautifully preserved frescoes and the second has interesting collections of the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Non-European Cultures.

A description of Rimini's attractions would not be complete without mentioning a few buildings from Roman times: the Tiberius Bridge, built across the Marecchia River in 21 AD, and the Arch of Augustus, built in 27 BC, are both magnificent monuments to Roman architecture.
