The nearest airport to Tropea is Lamezia Terme, located just 30 km away. It’s a small and relatively young airport, built in 1976. It operates mainly during the high season from May to October and currently has only one terminal. Another airport, located significantly farther at 112 km from the resort, is Reggio Calabria. Tito Minniti Airport (also known as Aeroporto dello Stretto) is situated near the town of Reggio in southern Calabria. Daily flights connect it with several Italian cities, and in the summer, also with some international destinations.
In addition to Lamezia Terme and Reggio Calabria, some travelers arrive via Catania-Fontanarossa Airport in Sicily — especially if they plan to combine a holiday in Calabria with a trip to Sicily. The distance to Tropea is about 200 km, but the journey includes a ferry crossing over the Strait of Messina. Although less convenient, this route offers the chance to explore two Italian regions at once.
