It’s worth visiting the Tyrrhenian Sea at least because its beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag by the EU, a mark of exceptionally clean coastal waters. And in 2007, journalists from The Sunday Times even named Tropea the best beach destination, ranking it first among 20 strong contenders.
The steep cliffs, reaching up to 60 meters in height, may initially seem intimidating, and not every traveler will feel comfortable relaxing under such massive rock formations. However, this feeling quickly fades. The overhanging cliffs seem to shield Tropea’s beaches from the rest of the world, creating a cozy atmosphere and providing crystal-clear waters.
