The tourist season in Tropea can easily begin in late April or early May. Around this time, the sea water warms up above +19°C, making it perfect for splashing around under the gentle sun.
In summer, the Tyrrhenian Sea reaches around +22°C in June, and then climbs over +25°C in July and August. Similar temperatures remain in September and October — around +25–23°C.
Closer to winter, the sea temperature drops more significantly — down to +17–14°C. However, by mid-spring, the water thermometer starts to show +17–19°C again, and sunny summer days return!
Despite seasonal fluctuations, the sea in Tropea remains relatively warm even in autumn, which attracts travelers who prefer the velvet season. At this time, beaches are less crowded, and sea trips are especially scenic with soft sunlight and calm waters.
