The most budget way to get to Tropea is to travel by train. The train leaves from the central station of Lamezia Terme, the ticket for which costs a little more than 3 EUR and in an hour you will be in Tropea. For those, who can't imagine their life without a car you can get also from Rome - but get ready for a long trip, because you have to overcome 640 km from the Italian capital and the cost will be about 100 EUR: 80 EUR for petrol and about 20 EUR for the road tax.
Include also a car rental fee of about 40 EUR per day. In the end, the result will be a decent figure, but you can fully enjoy the view of Italy and make pauses in any corner you like.
