The main sights of Lisbon, photos of which have already made millions of tourists from all over the world:
The concrete statue of Christ the King (Cristo Rei). It is located in Almada, a suburb of Lisbon, 113 meters above the Tahoe River. It is believed to be the best view of the city from this spot. Similar statues have been erected in many cities around the world - Spain, Peru, Dominican, Poland, Brazil. Catholics believe that the cross, visible from all points of the city, will protect the inhabitants from all sorts of misfortunes, troubles, and diseases.
Elevador di Santa Justa. In the center of Lisbon, on Rua do Oro street, there is the most beautiful elevator in Lisbon. It is not in a house, but right on the street between the buildings. It costs 5 EUR to take this elevator to the observation deck.
To climb the stairs to the observation deck, you will have to pay 1.5 EUR. Many tourists who visit Lisbon start their sightseeing descriptions with Santa Justa.
Carriage Museum. This is the most visited museum in Lisbon. Entrance costs 6 EUR. Earlier in the halls of the palace there was a riding arena where royal children learned riding. Today it houses the largest and most expensive collection of carriages and horse-drawn carriages from all over the world.
The highlight of the collection is the collection of ceremonial royal carriages, each of which cost as much as a small palace. Some carriages weigh about 5 tons.
Museum of Electricity. In the museum, you can trace the ways in which electricity was obtained in different eras. Antique steam boilers, huge condensers and steam turbines are preserved in working condition. Entrance is free. The museum is located on Avenida de Brasília.
The Torri di Belém tower on Via Brasília. It is marked on any Lisbon sightseeing map. The tower originally served as a lighthouse, so it's awfully cramped inside.
The Tower of Belém is a symbol of the grandeur of the Portuguese Empire. It looks like a huge white ship. After the terrible earthquake of 1755, it was the only surviving structure. Here is the first image of a rhinoceros in Europe. Entrance costs 6 EUR.
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of Europe and the whole of Eurasia. It is located half an hour's drive from Lisbon. It seems that the end of the world is somewhere here. It's hard to believe that there could be any other country across this vast ocean.
