Waves of the Adriatic Sea in this area are small even in windy weather - the area is sheltered by the coasts of the peninsula and archipelagos.
In Split itself, city beaches and hotels often offer the standard set of sea activities, including banana boating, parasailing, catamaran rentals, and water-skiing equipment. Fans of sailing, underwater fishing, and diving often come here.
But if you want access to a truly rich selection of water-based activities, head to the island of Hvar. There's a sailing and wakesurf school, sailing trips, and plenty of land sports. There are also biking excursions, rock climbing, and jeep safaris. And in the evenings, the island hosts raucous parties with entertaining shows.
