Rethymno has a lot to offer: the attractions and adult entertainment options are endless. In addition to exciting excursions, you'll also find vibrant nightlife options. However, Rethymnon nightlife is somewhat different from what you might be used to. Locals prefer to spend their evenings with a glass of wine and interesting conversation, with music playing in the background.
Among the nightclubs along the resort's waterfront, some of the best include Fortezza, Opera club, Metropolis, and Ice Club, with the latter being particularly lively. You'll also find rock cafes and karaoke bars along the promenade.
If your trip to Rethymno is scheduled for February, be sure to take part in the colorful carnival, which includes exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, and interactive games. The festival culminates with Pancake Day and a parade on the main street of the town, with participants dressed as fairy tale characters. The festival also features a large-scale open-air dance evening, attracting the best dancers in Crete.
Rethymno City Garden hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Wine Festival and the Renaissance Festival in July (the latter extending into late summer), the Virgin Mary and Ascension festivals in August, and the national festival in November, commemorating the anniversary of the "Explosion of the Arcadian Monastery."
