It's a short drive from Kazandzakis Airport to the city:
-by transfer or shuttle bus. The parking lot for shuttle buses, which will take you directly to your hotel, is located near the terminal. There is a disadvantage: if the transfer is combined, you can wait for hours in the bus for other tourists. Alternatively, we recommend taking bus 78: it takes 15-20 minutes and the ticket costs just over 1 EUR;
-by taxi - they are gray in Heraklion, with a sign "Taxi". The trip to the city will cost about 20 EUR (1,20 EUR for boarding, 2,60 EUR for each kilometer to the city). Tipping drivers here is not obligatory, but tourists often leave about 10% of the amount;
- If you rent a car, you can drive to Heraklion via the E75 highway.
From Chania airport, a cab ride to Heraklion will cost around 150 EUR. It is much more cost-effective to take a bus (stop at the terminal). The bus takes 25 minutes (2.30 EUR) to Chania bus station and from there to Heraklion. The whole trip will take about 3 hours and will cost about 14 EUR. The schedule and fares can be found on the website.
