The climate in Kos is suitable for vacations with children, but it is not ideal. Due to the cold winds of the meltemi (blowing from the north), the water doesn't get warmer than +26°C, even in August. Another disadvantage is the "uneven" vegetation.
Recreation in nature
Green groves, which are so actively extolled in advertising brochures, are concentrated in the mountainous areas of the island, but along the coast the landscape is rather "bald". The fact that Kos is considered one of the most eco-friendly resorts is true, as the local air, rich in sea salts and coniferous esters, will be beneficial to your child.
Beach Vacation
The best entertainment for children in Kos is, of course, the sea. There are beaches within the city limits, well-maintained, with clean sand and even entry into the water, but with a minimum of entertainment - children can be bored on them.
We'd recommend going to the beach on the south coast near Kefalos at least once (about 40 minutes by bus from Kos - transportation stops right by the beach). There are inflatable water slides (3 EUR), you can ride a "banana" or water skiing (15-20 EUR for 20 minutes), and the depth begins only after 200-300 meters from the shore.
An amusement park
Kos has its own amusement park - water park (located about 20 kilometers from the city, near the village of Mastihari). It is open from April to October and offers visitors a full range of slides and pools, including a children's frog pool, a centrifuge pool and an artificial wave tank.
