Public transportation in Mykonos

The cheapest way to get around is by public transportation. Find out all about Mykonos transportation and ticket prices.

In Mykonos, the capital Chora boasts two bus stations for public transportation. The northern station, located near the OTE office on Rimezzo, serves as a gateway to the entire island, connecting you to villages, resorts, and beaches like Agios Stefanos, Ano Mera, Elia, Kalafatis, Kalo Livadi, and Turlos.

Meanwhile, the southern bus station in Iralos Square provides access to Agios Ioannis, Paranja, and the popular Paradis beach.

You can easily purchase bus tickets at kiosks, mini markets, and stores before boarding, and they typically cost around 2 EUR.

However, ferries and boats reign supreme in Mykonos due to their accessibility to secluded beaches and breathtaking views of the island. Boat trips are not only quicker than bus rides but also more scenic. Tickets can be purchased near piers like Platis Yalos and Ornos, with an average price of 8 EUR.

Ferries are especially handy for inter-village travel, and you can find their prices and routes here.

Keep in mind that ferry tickets should be booked well in advance, especially during the peak season from June to August when six months ahead is ideal.

When arriving by large ferries or cruise ships, you'll dock at the new port, a mile from the city center, necessitating a taxi ride. Excursion boats and smaller ferries, however, dock at the old port within the city.

For taxi services, fares are fixed, such as 6 EUR from the airport to the city center. It's best to hail a cab at the central square or the southern bus station. Alternatively, consider booking through your hotel, as taxis can be scarce, especially late at night when clubgoers flood the streets.
