The temperature in the red sea is the warmest in the world. In summertime the water temperature in Eilat warms up to +27-28°C (in August from 27°C in the north to 32°C in the south), and in wintertime it is no less than +18-19°C (in February from 18°C in the north to 26°C in the south). So you can enjoy swimming in the Red Sea all year round.
Tides in the Red Sea are not as high as they are in open seas, as it is connected to the Indian Ocean by the narrow (16-mile) Bab el-Mandeb Strait. However, even this is enough to occasionally observe the sea's tides. They reach a maximum during the full moon and a minimum when the moon is in quarter. The cycle of tidal movements of sea water in the Red Sea is close to 6 hours.
