Safety in Sanremo: tips for tourists

To ensure your holiday runs smoothly, it's best to familiarise yourself in advance with the safety regulations in Sanremo.

Sanremo is a safe city, like the rest of Liguria. During the day, it's worth keeping an eye out in crowded areas as pickpockets love the hiking trails. Don't carry large sums of cash (you can pay by card almost everywhere) and don't flash your expensive gadgets.

The main headache for tourists in Rimini is petty theft, which is particularly common on the beach. Accordingly, don't leave your valuables unattended when you go swimming and, best of all, use the hotel safes to store large sums of money, jewellery and expensive equipment.

If you are going to hire a bike, or bringing your own, don't leave your 'steed' in the car park for too long, even if you have chained it up.

At night it's best not to venture out alone (especially for girls) in the area around the city port, where outdoor discos are often held, often ending in fights and other unpleasant incidents.
