The northern slopes of the Polish Tatra Mountains contribute to the fact that the snow cover in Zakopane lasts from December to May. The mild winter is favorable for lovers of sunbathing on the ski slopes.
Zakopane has an excellent network of skiing slopes. Total length of the skiing slopes exceeds 65 kilometers. The maximum height difference during descents is 940 meters. Today Zakopane has 10 independent complexes of ski areas. The main ski slopes are concentrated in Kasprowy Wierch, Szymoszkowa Polana, Nosal and Gubalówka. Besides the main ski areas, there are also ski slopes and rope tow elevators in Antaluvka and Kościeliski.
Ski slopes in Zakopane are marked in blue, red and black colors depending on the difficulty of the slopes. Blue slopes are for beginners, red slopes are for experts, and black slopes are for professionals.
Nosal is one of the most famous complexes in Zakopane. There are pistes for beginners and intermediate level of skill. Their length is about 450 m. Also on the special sections of these slopes can safely ride beginners and children. Nosal has artificial lighting and snow-making system. Nighttime skiing is also cleaned by a special snow groomer.
Kasprowy Wierch is a mountain resort in Zakopane. It is one of the oldest ropeways in Poland, more than 4 km long, which takes tourists to the top in 20 minutes. Its tracks have a high level of complexity and attract mainly professionals.
One of the most beautiful and difficult slopes of the complex is the black slope "Gorychkova. Its length is 2,600 m, and it is great not only for skiing, but also for snowboarding.
The lower part of the track is called "Nartostrada" and has a red color of difficulty. Its length is about 5.5 km.
The second slope is Gonsenitsova, 8.5 km long. It has the height difference of more than 900 meters, and is marked with the black and red colors of complexity.
It is worth noting that it is characterized by sharp turns and rocky sections, and is designed exclusively for professionals. There is no artificial lighting and snowing, and the track is cleaned by snowcats. There is a mountain rescue service, a small ski school, restaurants and cafes, hotels and equipment rentals.
Mount Gubalowka is a particularly beloved by skiers complex. It is one of the most famous and most visited mountains in Poland. Its height is 1120 meters above sea level. Ski tracks are situated mainly on the southern and eastern slopes of the mountain, with artificial snow cover and lighting systems.
These factors contribute to the fact that fans of downhill skiing can go skiing in late spring, until the air temperature rises to +8 ° C. There are 2 slopes in Gubaluvka for intermediate and advanced skiers. The length of the main track is 1600 meters. The complexity of Gubaluvka slopes is rated in red and blue. There are also areas for snowboarders. The bottom station of the funicular, which takes tourists to Gubałówka, is located right in the center of Zakopane. Therefore, skiers have no problem with parking, finding accommodation, equipment rentals and ski instructors.
A small but modern complex Kosteliska was created in 2001. It is equipped with everything you need - free parking, equipment rental, artificial lighting and snowmaking with snow guns. The length of ski tracks is about 15 km.Kosteliski slopes are designed for beginners and advanced skiers and have a blue and red colors of complexity. Blue slopes are quite simple, but the red ones require a certain level of skills and abilities. There are also children's sections in the complex.
