To be more precise — in the ocean. The warmest water at the resort is in August, when it reaches around +21–22°C, while in July and September it is a few degrees cooler. From the second half of September the water gradually cools, and by early October its temperature is about +18°C.
In winter, the Atlantic Ocean temperature drops to +8°C. By early to mid-June, however, the water is already warm enough to officially open the beach season. So by the end of May you can happily tell your friends: “I’m going to La Baule!”
It is worth noting that even in summer the Atlantic feels cooler than the Mediterranean. However, thanks to the mild climate and the long shallow shoreline, the ocean warms up more quickly, making swimming comfortable from mid-June onwards. At the height of the season, La Baule’s beaches are filled not only with tourists but also with locals, who value the resort for its clean water and refreshing sea breeze.
