How to get to Rome from the airport

They say all roads lead to Rome. But do all roads from local airports lead to the tourist centre?
train in Rome

From Fiumicino Airport

From here, you can reach the city by taking the Leonardo Express train — it departs from the airport every 15–30 minutes. The schedule is easy to remember, with trains usually leaving at the 5th and 35th minute of each hour. The ride to Rome's Termini station takes about 32 minutes, and the ticket costs 14 EUR. At night, you can take a bus from the airport (departing from terminals A and C) — tickets cost from 6 EUR if bought online, and around 7–8 EUR if purchased from the driver. A taxi ride to Rome will cost approximately 50 EUR — this is a fixed daytime rate.

A bus on the streets of Rome

From Ciampino Airport

The most convenient way to reach the city from here is by bus — they wait for passengers at the airport exit and take you to the nearest Rome metro station (Anagnina), where you can transfer to Line A and travel to Termini Station. The entire journey takes about 45–50 minutes. The bus ticket costs from 6 EUR if purchased online, and 7–8 EUR from the driver. A taxi to Rome costs around 31–35 EUR (basic fare without surcharges) — this is a fixed daytime rate.

If you're not arriving from the airport

In the Nuovo Salario district, north of central Rome, there's a train station of the same name, from which regional trains depart to Termini Station. This is convenient if you're staying nearby or have arrived by private air transport at Urbe Airport. There are also buses from this area to the city center. A train ticket costs from 1.5 EUR, and the journey takes about 15 minutes.
