If you visit Batumi, you cannot miss the Alphabet Tower, and it's no wonder as it towers at 130 meters. The structure stands out with its unique latticework design amidst skyscrapers and hotels. Unfortunately, it is not fully completed.
History of the Alphabet Tower in Batumi
The Alphabet Tower was built in 2012. The structure can be confidently called futuristic, and it was designed by Alberto Domingo Cabo, a talented architect from Spain.
The tower is not just a landmark of the city but also a testament to the Georgian people's love for their language: the structure is adorned from bottom to top with ribbons featuring the 33 Georgian letters.
What to See
According to the initial plans, the structure was supposed to house a restaurant at the top, which would rotate around its axis, a television studio, and an observatory. However, almost nothing of what was planned has been realized.
Tourists claim that the restaurant is rarely open, and it has high prices and not-so-delicious food. There is also an elevator in the tower, but it only operates when the restaurant is open. Taking the elevator to the top of the tower costs 12 GEL.
The tower looks most beautiful in the evening when the lighting is turned on. Nearby the tower, you can find:
- A pier with boats;
- Places to relax;
- Food stalls offering fast food;
- A playground with cars;
- Places for rollerblading;
- A Ferris wheel, and much more.
