The best way to get a bird's-eye view of Batumi is to take the cable car to the top of the Mtatsminda (Ferris) Mountain.
Key Information about the Cable Car
The Argo cable car was built in 2013 and is one of the longest in Georgia. You can enjoy the city from a height of 50 meters in comfortable cabins designed for six people. The ride to the top takes about 10 minutes, covering a distance of two and a half kilometers.
There are a limited number of cabins – only nine – so you may have to wait in line. The cabin doors are automatic. Even if you're afraid of heights, riding the cable car is not scary at all. The cabins move slowly and smoothly, swaying slightly on the supports.
The final stop is at an altitude of over two hundred meters on the top of Mtatsminda (Ferris) Mountain. On the mountain, you can:
- Eat at a cafe
- Visit a small church
- Enjoy the views from the observation deck
- Use the binoculars to see the beauty for 1 GEL
- Buy souvenirs and wine from the shops
- Use the free restroom
- Access Wi-Fi – there is Wi-Fi available on the mountain
The prices for these services are quite high.
