Operating Schedule
There are two sets of dancing fountains in Batumi: one near the Marriage Palace (ZAGS) and another at Ardagan Lake. The first one is slightly smaller in size but equally magnificent.
The fountains at Ardagan Lake delight tourists' eyes and ears every evening from 9 PM until midnight. If you're lucky, you may also enjoy a spectacular laser show, but the schedule for it is unknown, so you'll have to rely on luck.
There is a park surrounding the lake where you can comfortably sit on a bench or find a spot on the grass (bring a mat). If you're not a fan of just sitting on a bench, there are numerous cafes nearby where you can enjoy a delicious cup of something while watching the dance of the fountains.
The fountains near the Marriage Palace start operating at 9 PM as well. Unlike their counterpart, these fountains also entertain visitors during the day.
Getting There
The fountains are equidistant from May 6 Park, so the best option would be a leisurely walk along the beautiful Batumi promenade, which will take you only half an hour. In addition to walking, you can reach the fountains by public transportation or taxi for 5 GEL.
If you're taking a bus, you can ask the driver or fellow passengers for the route information, as all the signage on the minibusses is in Georgian or English. The bus ride will cost you 0.4 GEL one way.
Another option is to rent a car. It's a convenient, affordable, and increasingly popular means of transportation among tourists.
Travel Tips
Fountain at the Lake:
- Secure your spot in the "audience area" (on benches or on the grass) in advance.
- You can choose a nearby café or restaurant as your "observation point." The fountains at Lake Ardagan have quite high water jets, so avoid sitting too close to the lake if you don't want to get wet.
- You can take photos of the fountain from both the promenade and the residential area. Both options will provide beautiful views. In the first option, the fountains will be against the backdrop of the city, while in the second option, they will be against the backdrop of nearby restaurants.
- During the performances, you will hear various types of music, ranging from classical to rock, depending on the movement of the water jets. Some music may be a matter of personal preference, but stay a bit longer to avoid leaving disappointed.
- After 10 PM, a spectacular laser show starts at the fountains of Lake Ardagan. The exact schedule of this spectacle is unknown, so we recommend visiting this area more often to catch the show.
Fountain near the Registry Office:
- The fountains near the Registry Office will delight both thrill-seekers and children who can have fun running between the water jets. Additionally, there are comfortable benches where you can enjoy the beautiful spectacle.
- There is a small bridge near the fountains next to the Registry Office. If you decide to walk across it, be prepared to get wet. Bring a change of clothes.
